Performance Improvement Case Studies

Sytac consultants have a wealth of experience of increasing performance and efficiency across a whole range of disciplines and processes.

This has been achieved by Sytac consultants working with management and staff to streamline their business process and procedures to gain the maximum performance improvement possible, but more importantly sustaining this increase in efficiency by using effective management reporting and key performance indicators (KPI's).

Case Study 1 – Process Engineering

A leading UK chemical process engineering operation had made a major capital investment in a new facility. However, after two years the facility was still not operating efficiently or anywhere near the specified capacity. Sytac consultants led a major performance improvement programme increasing the monthly manufacturing output by over 40%. The establishment of effective management reporting and the use of key performance indicators (KPI's) subsequently supported the sustainable behavioural change needed to drive further continuous improvement.

Case Study 2 – Warehousing and Distribution

A leading business to business (B2B) high volume next day delivery operation was suffering through poor customer service. Sytac consultants identified and led the implementation of a performance improvement programme that resulted in increasing the lines picked per man-hour by 30%, and the deliveries per driver-hour by 20%. The publication, communication and use of the KPI’s ensured that the increased efficiency was maintained.

Case Study 3 – Public Transport

One of the largest public transport operations in the UK could not adequately measure, manage and report their fleet performance operation against published timetables in real time, which fuelled the perception of poor customer service. Sytac consultants identified and corrected major underperformance delivering “quick wins” within 3 weeks. They subsequently led a pilot performance improvement programme, using clearly focused KPI’s, to deliver a quality index of 95% - the highest ever recorded, increasing fleet reporting availability by 7%.
